Responsibilities on the humanity and the global issues, consideration
for the future generation, and peace to all living beings has
led Venerable Pomnyun to take steps in the Life Movement and
the Environment (Green) Movement. Particularly he has been working
for the people at extreme risks like the North Korean Refugees,
humanitarian assistance to famine stricken North Korea, Development
aid to the Harisans, one the most margianlised outcasts in India.
He has established Buddhist Academy for Ecological Awakening
(BAEA), Good Friends: Centre for Peace, Human Rights and Refugess
and Join Together Society (JTS) to improve the condition for
human rights, emergency relief and the sustainable development
in the concerned area.
For a true peace of the humanity, individual change is also
as important as the social changes. Hence, the freedom and peace
should be recovered by awakening to oneself. To practice this,
he has formed an alternative community called JungTo Society,
that works and lives in honest poverty but aims to achieve the
rich mentality. |
